i just watched season 3 of so you think you can dance and really want to start ballroom!! im 15 and am in a ballet company, so i do have dance experience. there are ballroom dance studios in my area, but i have one question:

am i going to be the only teenager there?

i dont want to be stuck with a 40-year-old man as my partner. or not a partner at all.

help?

(and no, the websites i looked on didnt offer any classes especially made for teens, they are divided by levels, beginner, intermediate, etc.)

Dancing With The Stars had an episode where Penn used a posture bar to improve posture while ballroom dancing. It went behind the head and it kept your arms out and your back straight. I’m learning belly dancing and posture is a very important element. Does anyone know where can I find one?

Age of the crowd doesn’t really matter, but mixed is better. If everybody’s under 30 or over 60 it can be a problem. Live music is great, but recorded music is OK if the people are really into dance. Other styles of partner dance are interesting too–latin, country, etc. Tango is really interesting but can be a little intimidating. East coast swing and waltz are the dances I know best.

I’m entering a Latin Ballroom dancing competition. I’m not new to competing, but the regular partner I’ve had for years now broke his leg and he won’t be ready for the competition. We started dancing together because we were good friends already through the dance studio. I’ve never had to find my own partner. If anyone has tips on the best way to find highly qualified partners to audition that would be great. The rest of the people at my dance studio either have partners or aren’t ready for my division. There’s this guy that I really like from my ballroom class. We had some pretty good chemistry going on in the past. He’s given really good advice and even helped me prepare a decadent tiramisu when I asked him to. Two weeks ago, he even invited me to lunch with some of his old pals.

I’m a little crushed by my crushes’ actions as of late. He’s been hanging around his dance partner giggling and flirting with each other. Just a week ago, we were txting freely, talking openly over ice cream and dessert.

Last week, at the salsa club, i couldn’t stand him hanging around his dance partner for so long, so i decided to dance bachata scandalously with this other friend right in front of his face. The next day, he practically ignored me and solely danced with her during all of ballroom practice. During some girl talk session, they asked me whether i had a crush on someone at the moment. I said that i didn’t like any one (and I knew he was overhearing this as he was practicing). At the end of the session, i left him out cold by not inviting him to a dinner my friends and I were talking about the whole week.

What should I do? It’s not my fault that he’s instigating this kind of jealousy in me. Do you think he’s playing with me?

He always goes back to her as some kind of buoy when we’re at a dancing
