Whats wrong with boys ballroom dancing?
Concerned asked:
Hi every1 im 14 and im a boy i like to ballroom dance and i also like to do other sports like football, baseball, tennis, ect. But recently i have been telling people that i do dance and i see them laugh or say little comments such as fruity, fagg,or gay. I however know i am straight my only thing is wat would be a good way to deal with this? Its not only kids that have said this, it has been adults.

I think that you should continue ballroom dancing because I think its beautiful. To have a ballroom dance you need a boy and a girl so let your innerself become that and I have faith because I support you!

For goodness sakes - have these people NOT seen dancing with the stars? There have been several football stars and now a boxer on the show. Are they fruity, fags or gay?!
I taught dance for years and when someone made ignorant comments about a male who liked to dance I would smile and say, “I’m so sorry that you are insecure about YOUR masculinity - aren’t you aware that the world’s best lovers are usually also great dancers”.
When my son was young and danced ballet, jazz, tap, etc. and was also one of his school’s top athletes, others could see how dancing helped his speed on the football field and track, not the mention his agility, helped him with the hurdles in track and was the reason his jumps were so high on the basketball court. Not only was he a wonderful athlete and dancer, he was always surrounded by the girls and never for lack of dates. Today he is a father of a darling son and his wife is pregnant with their second.
Don’t give people the satisfaction of knowing that their stupidity bothers you. So next time someone says something concerning your dancing just smile and say, “I’m secure concerning my masculinity - I’m so sorry that YOU aren’t” and walk away.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a guy doing ballroom dance. I mean there would be no ballroom dancing if guys weren’t doing it! If people are laughing at you because you dance they are the ones with problems, not you. If it is getting really serious talk to someone who understands your likes for dance and see if they can help.
ok i hope this helped you!

There is nothing wrong with boys’ ballroom dancing. Just think to yourself….I can meet a lot of girls this way! Somewhere there is always a shortage of guys to dance with, so stick with it!
Ignore all that name calling and teasing. Do what you like to do!
Proud of ya!

Eight or ten years ago some guys were doing weight training while I was working on my dancing. I pointed out to them that I was spending a couple of hours holding some rather attractive ladies, while they were spending a like amount of time grabbing a stiff rod (the bar for their weights). Who’s fruity between those two?

They are probably just jealous, as simple as that. If you’ve been dancing for awhile, you have a good posture which makes you look confident which is a big plus for a guy, and you have strong muscles which is again a plus.
No matter what you do in life, if you’re good at it there will be always someone mean to put you down: if you’re a scientist then you’re nerd, if you’re a businessman you’re greedy, if you’re an artist you’re wimp, if you’re a boxer you’re dumb and so on. Get used to the side effects of professional success.
