Is there an age limit for Ballroom dancing?
Dancemaniac asked:
I want to do ballroom dancing really bad. I’m 14. Is there a certain age you have to be to start? Can I have a few pointers?

I think that it is great that you want to start ballroom dancing! Starting at 14 is not bad but of course it would have been great to start early. Look around in your town for teachers or classes. If you know someone or can get to know someone that is good at ballroom ask them if they would be willing to give you some lessons. Start out on some beginner classes and watch some on youtube for starters. It all depends on how far you want to go professional, fun, or just for excerize. They are all great reasons. Some pointers? Rythm. Make sure you have rythm and you practice usefull material and you will do great. Start streching also as there can be some pretty tricky moves.
Good luck and have fun!!!

There is absolutely no age limit! Some people even start in their 60s!
As for pointers:
make sure you find a good studio with a good atmosphere and floor(if it’s tiled laminate i wouldn’t suggest it)
if there happen to be many studios near you, see if you could take a complimentary lesson at each and pick the one that suits you best.
don’t order your first pair of shoes online. go to a place and try different brands and styles on. the most popular are supadance and international shoes. the sizes vary depending on what country they’re from and the width can be off. Also the style you like in a picture may no be comfortable for dancing.
have fun with it! Don’t just do it because you want trophies.

You can never be too old to dance! Plus ballroom is really fun. I have taken a few classes in it, and I love it. Just get out there and try it!

Nope, there is no age limit for ballroom. I started doing ballroom when I was 16 years old and I know some kids even start when they’re 6 or 7 and some people even start dancing in their 50’s and 60’s so it’s never too early or too late to start.
I recommend going to and looking through their instructional videos on each dance before going to your lessons. You’ll be familiar with the steps before you even do them and it will help you learn faster. That’s what I did and it helped me a lot. Best of luck!

Let me tell you something:
Dance is not something you can be too old for. Anyone can dance. Actually, studies show that if you start at a later age, like around 12 to 14,you can get better a lot quicker. Also, if you look at some of the greatest professionals, they didn’t start until they were in their preteen and teen years.
Good Luck and Dance away!!!!!!!!
