Ideas for ballroom dancing birthday themes?
anikan987 asked:
My twin sister and I are turning 19 next month and we’re trying to think of something to do to celebrate the occasion. I would have really liked to do a murder mystery party, but that’s completely out of the question since we have so many friends. My sister told everyone that she wanted to do a ballroom danging theme for our birthday, but a friend of ours has already done this and so it doesn’t feel as personal to me… I thought maybe if it had a particular theme to it that it would be more bearable… any ideas?

Maybe pick a particular Fred Astaire / Ginger Rogers’ movie and use that as your theme ……. This isn’t really ballroom dancing, but how about the Ascot Racetrack scene in “My Fair Lady?” That’s classy and upscale too…….. Or, the movie “Casablanca” would be a good theme too…….You can have whatever movie running during the party

You can go to a Burlesque school and learn burlesque dance (to learn some groovy moves so you can ) then go to a (small time) video production company and shoot your own music video version of Lady Marmalade from Moulin Rouge. (Or something like that.) It’s a fun girlie thing to do. If you have guys with you why not learn a little Tango and then shoot Tango de Roxanne from Moulin Rouge.
A cheap way for the video shoot would be to get a student from a film college to do the shoot - they are always looking for opportunities to hone their skills and most of them are used to editing music clips. Or… if you have a friend who is camera savvy - even better!
