I think it is extremely beautiful, and romantic. I have always wanted to take lessons, and I will someday.

Ballroom dancing is a beautiful activity and no more silly than basketball or football. It requires a lot of physical stamina and practice.

Ballroom dancing is great….the stuff that is promoted as ballroom dancing on TV like “Dancing with the Stars” is a bit over the top though.

It takes a while before you get really comfortable–but it’s really beautiful with the right partner. But you need a lead who is confident and who will make you feel beautiful and graceful.

Given that I compete in Ballroom for 5 years, practice 4-6 times a week and make my own costumes it is pretty clear that I live and breathe ballroom. I think it is beatiful and sometimes silly too (think Jive), but why not, we don’t have to be serious all the time.

I started taking lessons 7 or 8 years ago to become competent as a social skill. Now I’ll go to competitions just to watch and I dance every opportunity I get. Completely hooked. Considering my other hobbies are hunting/shooting and military history, it’s a slightly different part of my personality.

Sometimes I think the competitions (like some of the pro competitions they play on tv) are a bit corny and too showy for my taste, but real ballroom is totally romantic and simply one of the most beautiful types of dances to watch.
